Whether your teen is new to dance and is just learning to express themselves with movement or if they are an experienced mover, we have a dance class for them! Our inclusive classes celebrate teens, give opportunities for expression, and foster a community that uplifts everyone. Our dedication to social-emotional learning ensures dancers are surrounded by a supportive group of their peers. Classes explore dance guided by the Brain Dance and concepts such as SIZE, SHAPE, FLOW, and more.

Teen dancers have several opportunities to be involved in leadership programs at our studio through the Mentee Program, the Diversity and Inclusion Program, and our Honor Club.

A versatile, high-energy, and creative form, drawing inspiration from this genre's African roots, jazz greats of the past, and contemporary artists of today.  Lyrical Classes for Teens (12+)

An extension of a dancer’s training, lyrical classes combine techniques from jazz, ballet and modern dance with movement inspired by song lyrics. The perfect class for developing dancers who are seeking to enhance their performance abilities as they learn to tell stories through movement, expressing powerful emotions and creativity to reach their audiences.

Starting this Fall, we are adding additional lyrical classes to our ATD Schedule to create more pathways for dancers to reach Lyrical eligibility.

  • Teen Beginning Lyrical is for dancers in any Teen Level I and up who are at least 12 years old. Lyrical is an add-on class--dancers must be enrolled in another ATD class in order to be eligible for Lyrical.

  • Placements in levels beyond Teen Beginning Lyrical are determined by the Department Lead in coordination with dancer's age, and other dance genres/levels the dancer is enrolled in.

This unique style is marked by athleticism and expressiveness and allows students to become aware of their endless potential for self expression. Modern classes consist of: floor work, progressions, components of ballet, partner work, choreography, and collaboration, which produce dancers who are able to create and appreciate modern dance in our local community and around the world.
